It’s been pretty cold here in the valley even colder than Alaska! Well maybe not the whole state, but certain cities are pushing temps that are similar here to the valley. Josh makes a big pot of coffee every morning and he makes so much that I usually have a cup in the morning and afternoon, but there is so much left over that I decided to make brewed coffee soap. This coffee soap is a beginner’s tutorial that anyone can make.

CAUTION FIRST: Suit up for safe handling practices. That means goggles, gloves, and long sleeves. Make sure kids, pets, other distractions, and tripping hazards are out of the house or don’t have access to your soaping space. Always soap in a well-ventilated area.

10 oz. Lard

5 oz. Coconut oil

8 oz. Olive Oil

The mold I use for my Soap

Brewed Coffee Cold Process Soap Recipe Directions:

  1. Slowly add lye to brewed coffee and gently stir until lye has completely dissolved and cooled.
  2. In a microwave safe container melt lard, olive oil and coconut oil until dissolved in the microwave for about 3 minutes. I did this in 20 second intervals. Oil mixture should be 120-130 degrees.
  3. Once the lye water and the oils have cooled to 130 degrees or below, (this temperature is perfect for the oils as well) add the lye water to the oils and stick blend the mixture to a thin to medium trace.
  4. Add fragrance oil and stick blend to medium trace, if trace is to thick just Wisk in the fragrance oils
  5. Pour soap in soap mold and let sit for 1-3 days or until soap has become hard.
